Employment Opportunities:
4RKids owns and operates a vocational center, called The 2nd Story Employment Center, for special needs adult workers. Employees receive pre-vocational training, job coaching, and help in finding meaningful employment. Each employee is assigned tasks and hours of work based on individual assessments. If you know a developmentally disabled person interested in working, please share our information or contact us.
Educational Opportunities:
Each fall the 4RKids Foundation awards grants to special education teachers in Enid and the surrounding communities in support of innovative classroom programs and ideas. Applications are now available. Grant applications are due in the 4RKids office, 710 Overland Trail, no later than October 12, 2012. TEACHER GRANT APPLICATION 2012
4RKids provides job coaches each school year for Project SEARCH, a collaboration with the Enid Public School Systems, Integris Bass Baptist Health Center, DRS, and OU. Ten specially selected, developmentally disabled students in their final year of high school work at Integris Bass Hospital as interns in a variety of positions. Job coaches from 4RKids help the students learn job skills as well as social skills that will help them be successful in the workplace. The goal of Project SEARCH is to graduate each student in May with a meaningful, competitive job in the Enid community. Contact us for more information on Project SEARCH.

Social/Recreational Opportunities:
4RKids participates in the annual Cherokee Strip Celebration Days parade each September in downtown Enid. Everyone who is a supporter of 4RKids is encouraged to come walk with us in the parade. Wear your 4RKids t-shirt and western wear. Traditionally 4RKids is one of the largest groups participating in the parade — what a great opportunity to promote awareness of our special needs individuals and their abilities! For more information, including what time we will assemble before the parade, contact the 4RKids office, 237-7890.
The Civitan clubs of Enid, in cooperation with Central Christian Church, host a Halloween Dance for developmentally disabled adults in October and a Valentine Dance in February. The dances are held in the fellowship hall of Central Christian Church, 1111 West Broadway, and include free snacks, drinks, music with a DJ, games, and lots of fun! Watch this website for more information or call Central Christian Church at 233-1214 as those holidays approach.
